Hard Work Pays Off

So they say hard work pays off but what they don't tell you is that it is exhausting, sweaty, takes persistance, motivation, and time. If you want to see results then you have to be dedicated to yourself and say I am going to do this no matter what. Remember: You've got to get a little selfish with your time. Aren't you worth it? Devote time to exercise, to eating right, and to God's Word and in prayer for his guidance and strength...believe me it will all pay off.

"I will strengthen them in the Lord. And in his name they will walk." declares the Lord. Zechariah 10:12

Managing Your Time

So I had a great workout at the gym this morning: 2.16 miles on the treadmill /369 cals. burned, 90 crunches, 30 leg presses only 7 pull ups...just tried them for the first time today...will do better as time goes on. Didn't work my arms today, they need rest from the workout yesterday.
Now I am eating my Breakfast of Champions Omlette, it contains 1 egg, 1 egg white, 1/2 c broccoli, 1/4 c shredded carrots, 1/4 c diced videlia onions, 1/4 c 2% milk shredded chedar, a few dashes of Mrs. Dash (extra spicey) and is cooked in 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil. I am also eating a fresh berry salad with sliced strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries mixed with 2 tbsp of cream cheese fruit dip (most of the time I use vanilla yogurt.) I shared that information with you because I want to share good tasting healthy recipes with anyone who might can use them.

So today I am going to talk about time management. One of the biggest struggles of my weight issues has always been battling with time, as I am sure is the case for all of you. We live in a microwave world and we are always busy, especially if you're a mommy! Our schedules are full of the many things that we have to do for our families...work, baseball, soccer, football practices, dinner, washing, etc... But you have to become selfish my friends if you want to accomplish the goal of lossing weight and keeping it off. Now hear me out I'm not saying that you've got to give up everything and become selfish everyday. You just need to set aside at least 20 mins a few days a week to yourself so that you can exercise. You don't have to join a gym, there are many exercises you can do in the privacy of your own home. You can even take your family on a walk. But you have to say I need this time for me and stick to it. Look I know it is hard to do. I use to feel guilty for neglecting my family but when I started seeing the results I got over it quick! I devote almost all my time to them. They can do without me for a few hours a week, besides when they saw how much it meant to me they became very supportive.

Deuteronomy 14:22 tells about tithing and savings. "Be sure you set aside a tenth of all that your fields produce each year." So we know that this is telling us to give a tenth of our income back to God. My husband, Shane, and I live by a truth of giving 10% to tithing and 10% to savings, then you pay the bills and live off of the other 80%. You maybe thinking what does this have to do with time management? It's simple, you see tithing is much more than your income, it is also your time. Just as you should give God at least 10% of your time, you should also be giving 10% to yourself. I'm sure you're asking "How am I going to do that?" and I know it is hard especially when you have so many people counting on you. BUT YOU'VE GOT TO TRY!

So where do we go from here? Can we make our minds up that we are going to do this and stop allowing interferences to get in our way? Only you can decide for yourself.

28lbs. and still losing!!!!!

For those of you that don't know me, and those who do, I've been struggling with my weight for years. I have watched it go up and down since I was 22. Now I am 37 and tired of the struggle. I've decided not to let it control me any longer. I made the decission to get off that roller coaster and start doing something lasting for my body. Though it has been hard I have changed most of my eating habits...leaving room for some high calorie days...and I joined a gym. I exercise 4-5 days a week, no less than 30 mins. The struggles are still there and there are weeks that I have to fight with myself and still get discouraged and want to give up. Then I look at the picture diary that I keep and it motivates me to push on. I also keep a journal expressing all my struggles, let downs, goals, and accomplishments. I find these things very helpful. But the greatest help comes from my relationship with the Lord. I find encouragemnet in his word and I trust in it then I pray for his strength!
So why have I decided to blog about all this? The answer is very simple: you see God doesn't want us to go it alone. We were created for relationships. It is my hope that it will be the relationships I form from this blog that will help to inspire others who struggle with their weight. ("Now the body is not made up of one part but many...if one part suffers, every part suffers with it: if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it." 1 Corinthians 12:14,26)
It is my pray my dear friends that you will join me in allowing God to transform our lives.
("Such confidence as this is ours through Christ before God" 2 Corinthians 3:4)
